Dollar-store substitute for dashi?

The prices for food on Amazon.ca are insane sometimes. I can’t imagine many people are selling a lot of 8-piece bags of Mission corn tortillas for $56 and $12 S&H but that is what a lot of the search returns look like.

Wheat is in EVERYTHING! It is in chocolate bars, it is in soy sauce, it is in soup, it is in deli meat. I can’t eat peanuts or french fries because the plain ones are processed on the same production lines as the seasoned ones and the spices are mixed with wheat. Oats are contaminated from being shipped in the same container as wheat has been. I was violently ill for more than three days from eating Quaker brand oatmeal instead of the hard to find $8 a box gluten-free oats. People mock non-gluten labeling on foods that have no wheat but this is essential for people like me... if a company uses wheat flour to dust their conveyer lines they are not required to list wheat as an ingredient in the product.

Thank you for the recipe. Don’t bother searching up other recipes on my behalf though... I have all sorts of health issues and food restrictions so in addition to needing to eat gluten-free I also have to eat low-fiber/low-FODMP and I have dysphagia from Parkinson’s which make peculiar things like fish impossible to swallow because of how it forms boluses. Last summer I could not even swallow any rice, only gluten-free biscottis, yogurt, and jello. I thought I would need a nasal-gastric line put in but I am doing much better now and can have sticky rice again and a lot of things I couldn’t get down over the summer. With achalasia and LES paralysis you have to do this absolutely terrifying thing of forcing food down your esophagus using water pressure because you have no esophageal motility but I have not had to do this except once or twice since last summer.
