Realm of Anant Kaal

Affinity: Air Mystic Illusion Gaia Size Class: Average Race: Aksaya (Constructs) – The Aksaya are humanoid looking constructs that take the appearance of dark elves. They are made up of a flesh-like rubber substance that makes them indistinguishable from their humanoid equivalents. They do possess internal organs and a skeletal structure but all of it is made up of the same substance in varying degrees of hardness and physical makeup. The bones are made up of countless strand-like nanofibers wound together so tightly as to resemble bone. The internal organs are resilient and bouncy, the hair voluminous and silky while the skin is unmarred by scars or blemishes. They bleed a clear liquid that’s more reminiscent of sap than blood and are not slowed down by physical damage; able to regenerate or reattach entire limbs and recover from mortal injuries as long as their core is undamaged. The core, or soul gem, is located in their medulla oblongata and requires a precise strike to damage or destroy (a supremely powerful attack aimed at their head can also do the job.) The only thing that differentiates the Aksaya from regular dark elves is their eyes. All Aksaya possess unique pupils- each pupil is surrounded by 3 concentric circles with 3 tomoe on each circle. The color of their eyes highlights their gender- males possessing purple eyes while females possess green ones. They can turn off their pain receptors at will. However, they do feel immense pain if their core is damaged. Their already prodigious regenerative ability is further accelerated by taking in nutrients like plants do: sunlight, water and/or nutrient-filled soil are all that is needed for them to quickly recover from any type of damage. Even if their entire body is destroyed, as long as the soul gem is intact they can reform. Planting an intact soul gem in fertile soil with lots of water and sunlight will regrow their entire body in about a week’s time. If left by itself (without any access to sunlight, water or soil) the body will slowly reform in a few months’ time. They also procreate like other humanoids do, however, the gestation period for an Aksaya female takes 20 months and they can never bear more than one child at a given time. Twins are unheard of in Aksaya culture. Adult Aksaya do not need to eat to survive, however, they usually enjoy taking in nutrients via sunlight, drinking water or by planting their feet into the earth. They don’t even need to sleep as long as they expose themselves in the sun for at least an hour a day. They can eat and drink food from the other races but their sense of taste is muted compared to their humanoid counterparts. They can appreciate the taste but to them nothing beats drinking fresh clean water or planting their feet in nutrient rich earth. Aksaya children must take in nutrients and sleep at least 6 hours a day or risk delaying their growth. Aksaya who fail to grow into adulthood in the first 20 years of their life are seen as failures in their society. They have to keep taking in nutrients like plants do and get enough rest each day or risk becoming mentally unstable. Aksaya children who are starved of nutrients turn into feral, mentally unstable beasts and must be put down by others. Aksaya children whose bodies are destroyed (while the gem remains intact) can be revived but they will become feral once their bodies are regrown. The lifespan of a typical Aksaya is generally measured in the thousands of years. They can theoretically keep going forever but usually choose to die rather than keep on living depending on a myriad of reasons. Very few Aksaya choose death before reaching a thousand years of age or more. Elder Aksaya who wish to go into eternal rest simply root their feet into the ground, stand upright with their arms hanging loosely to their sides, close their eyes and willingly relinquish their soul gem from their bodies. Once separated, the gem slowly starts disintegrating on its own and turns into a fine powder at the base of the now dead Aksaya. They usually know when their time is up and slowly make the trip to what they call their “sacred grounds” – a grove full of trees native to their region called Yggdrasil’s Tear. The trees are usually about 20 meters in circumference and can grow upwards of 80 meters or more. Similar to elephants, they have an instinctual need to go to these groves when they feel they are ready to die. Unbeknownst to anyone outside of the Aksaya race, dead Aksaya bodies are the foundation for creating Yggdrasil’s tear – a tree that possesses many magical effects and regenerative uses. They have very strict requirements for growth, one of which is that an Aksaya can’t be forced to end their own lives. Another requirement is that Yggdrasil’s Tear can only grow in their native land of Anant Kaal. Aksaya who die prematurely from violence are also interred in their sacred groves. However, their bodies do not grow to become another Yggdrasil’s Tear. After their body is interred into the ground, blood red flowers called Mother’s Lament grow on top of their graves. Any non-Aksaya who get close to these flowers and accidentally ingest their pollen lose themselves in nightmarish hallucinations and must be forcefully pulled away from the area, fed the antidote (a mixture of crushed Mother’s Lament petals and Aksaya blood) or risk death by starvation or exposure. Boss Perks (+10 Shards of Power) Above the Aksaya is the Grand Patriarch of Anant Kaal. The stories say that he was born from Gaia herself, the mother of all, and given abilities to rival that of the gods themselves. He made the Aksaya in his own image while his consort, Shayal of the Shadows, breathed life into them. These first few Aksaya became known as the Four Exarchs – considered Grand Patriarch’s favorites and royal retainers. They had the unique ability to teleport instantly to his side no matter the distance. There would be many more Aksaya created years later but the first four were blessed with his attention. Their progeny would, in turn, create the Four Great Houses of Anant Kaal. • Vitality Prowess • Physical Prowess • Charisma Prowess • Phylactery • Corruption • Empowerment (Illusion) • Empowerment (Mystic) • Domain Control • Personal Guards • Guardian The Grand Patriarch and his consort were true immortals. According to the legends, not even the destruction of their entire bodies could keep them down permanently. Rumors say that both the consort and patriarch each split their souls and hid the other half within each other. The only way that they would permanently die is if both of them were completely obliterated at the same time. A tall order for anyone to accomplish considering one is seen as a god and the other as Anant Kaal’s spymaster- a top duelist and assassin who possesses precognition, postcognition, a honed danger sense, extreme intelligence, magical prowess and shapeshifting. Minions (+25 Minion Tokens) All denizens of Anant Kaal are blessed with great intelligence, magical prowess, natural agility and supreme regeneration. Furthermore, they also have the ability to create illusions, fly and develop psionic abilities courtesy of the Grand Patriarch. They can corrupt others with their affinities and turn them into loyal allies and retainers without a single drop of blood being spilt. Two sizes and races: Average-sized Aksaya and Large Monstrosities The denizens of Anant Kaal come in two main varieties: the humanoid Aksaya and the guardians of the forest - the Rote Mashi. In the native tongue of Aksaya Sabda it means formless. Their true forms are shrouded in shadows and layers of clothing. Rumors say that they can turn you mad with a whisper. They only listen to the direct commands of the Grand Patriarch, the Consort and the Four Exarchs.
