“I don’t want to live below my previous standard of living”

Honestly, this was me. I went at 17, largely because it had simply been drilled into me that that was what you did. School, university, good job. I had no fuckin' idea what I wanted to do, so I simply studied subjects I was interested in at school and did well at. Predictably, I dropped out. What a fuckin' waste of time.

I remember getting angry at my dad when he asked what job I was going to get with a political theory/anthropology degree. In retrospect I now see that was misplaced anger because I was just clueless. Sorry dad! Although, jokes on my parents, they raised me in such a restricted environment, and I had so little experience of the world to find a career to pursue.
