Donald Trump refuses to shake Angela Merkel's hand

She would have made a good president in the same way many of these men did. It's sad that I'm over here thinking how great it would have been to have had her in office - because she'd be a billion times better at being a politician - but still bothered by the facts of what she has done in the past. She spent the election vilifying 'those people' who were supporting Trump, not much differently than she did in the past by labeling all young black men 'superpredators'. Yeah, a lot of them are absolute piecees-of-feces, but if you're going to be the president those are your assholes to deal with.

Yes, she should have become president. It wouldn't be as bad as what we have now; not even close to it. But I can't take the "shoulda voted Hillary" that I read in every other comment is way to rosy-eyed to be palatable. Who knows? Maybe she would have given us a utopia, but that kind of blind optimism, when the facts tell a different story, is how we ended up with the Cheeto In Charge.

I'll be voting, calling, everything I can in the meantime, but this all feels so hopeless. Democrats had a chance at something special with Bernie (not perfect, but really fantastic in general), and somehow we got here... from there.

It's funny how much I used to ignore older people when they'd talk about history and its habit of repeating itself, but they got the last laugh. I mean, they would laugh, if they weren't afraid of hurting themselves in the process and having no way to afford the medical cost of a broken rib or oxygen machine.
