Jesus H Christ. It just hit me how bad this is. You've got Trump and his mates ( including now fairly open white supremacists like Bannon and Thiel) with access to all the resources of the US government. If ISIS don't do it for them they have all the means to "create" an event so horrific that the public all but demands a response ( see internment or deportation of Muslims) Given the unsubstantiated shit Bannon is ok with saying about minorities ( through Breitbart) and his pretty openly white nationalist sentiment (Asian CEOs comment) this does seem like something they can cook up. Gives them a convenient enemy with which they can "deal with" and look productive to the American people.

Of course to young marginalised Muslims being treated this way, the ideologies of ISIS start to look better and better ( a culturally convenient excuse for young Muslims to use violence). If their home countries are rejecting them in this way, just imagine the ease with which jihad recruiters can pick up gen y Muslims?

Of course hate begets hate. More attacks will reinforce the can of bigotry Trump has opened. My only hope for all this is that Mattis will be a voice of reason in Trumps ear. Despite TD sub's praise of his anti Muslim sentiment, Mattis seems to be a smart, compassionate and thoughtful guy who knows how bad policy affects the standing of the US on the world stage.
