Okay. You don't think being able to talk to these people as human beings first to understand them and how they might have gotten that way is a good first step to being able to fight their views?

Also I haven't ever really dealt with any republicans that are full on crazy far right batshit. I have no qualms with being able to talk to someone like a human being though, to try and at least put an the idea in their head that they might be on the wrong side of humanity if they are.

There are tons I would love to change about what the republican party upholds, but just because people are republican doesn't even mean they even voted republican this election. All I was trying to tell OP was that they should try to mend their ties with their family since even if you can't always see eye to eye with family they can still mean well and be loved.
