Don't buy your grandkids messy gifts if you aren't prepared for a mess

For context, my kids are 7 and 9. I had long decided that I wasn't buying them SHIT just so that they had a bunch to open for Xmas. Got them a handful of good gifts each.

My dad, who needs to outdo me, buys a fuck ton of presents for them (and marks them all as Santa... another issue I have). He bought a bunch of this Kinetic Sand stuff (which I didn't even know about until this morning). We opened gifts as his place this morning, and my youngest decides she only wants to play with the kinetic sand. I have zero interest in it, so sat around, and just constantly heard remarks from my dad about how she shouldn't be using it until her dad is there to do it with her. I'm not a dick, or lazy, but I was purposely avoiding this kinda shit, cause I don't want messes or stuff that will be in the trash a month from now.
