Don't use Chegg in math classes

Yep, WWU STEM professor here. It is not the time to use Chegg, Slader, CourseHero, Jiskha, etc. They will provide student names and view history upon instructor request, and instructors can submit exams to these sites in advance so that any posted questions matching the exam can be flagged and investigated. I know that PhotoMath is also working on providing a similar function.

I wish students knew that we know these websites exist and how they are used, and how frequently they are used (especially now during online learning - it's always been an issue with homework, but now tests too). The batty part is that so often, the solutions given are wrong! We are coming to realize more and more as the pandemic lasts that it is worth our time to follow through with investigating academic dishonesty suspicions and reporting the resulting claims. Widespread copying and cheating could ruin the integrity of our courses and of the grades we have to give at the end of the term. It's not fair to us, to the students who don't cheat, or to the students who do cheat.

Just so you know, based on the student handbook, use of these websites for any reason is grounds for immediate failure of the course. Depending on the severity, it can potentially also be grounds for further discipline/dismissal from the university. Most professors choose not to take this full action immediately and will give a zero on the exam/assignment the first time, but some have no tolerance for it and will report you straight to the academic integrity office (who are generally not forgiving when it comes to this). Honestly, if I was a student, I wouldn't risk it. Like you said, delete your accounts. And make sure no one else has your login info.
