I understand the feeling of anxiety that comes with having multiple paths to take and multiple ways to customize your character. You want to always make the absolute best choice and you have this nagging doubt that maybe you should have gone with intelligence instead of strength or whatever, but you just have to make the choice and then ride it out.

You can keep track of your choices and then after you beat the game (or when you give up) you can go back and replay the game making the opposite choices. Some people enjoy replaying certain games over and over with different weapons or character builds.

The footnote is fine, though I did think it seemed a bit formal and technical-writer-y. It'd probably get especially weird if you have multiple footnotes. I'd just make it its own paragraph in the main body.
