I don't think I'm made for advertising

Every field you go into, if it is for profit, is going to make you question the morality behind how profits are accomplished.

I love writing. It's what I did as a kid and it's still what I do in my free time. I loved it so much that it's what I started doing as a job for a while and it wasn't this creative, artistic activity anymore. When I was doing journalism/content writing, it was equally about the deception you're worried marketing is about. Ours was headlines that sensationalized topics, rounding up random people on Twitter as proof there was an "outrage" over something or other bs things because at the end of the day, we made money on clicks.

Basically, what I'm trying to say is there isn't a business out there that doesn't engage in marketing and persuasion, even if that's not their primary business offering.

If you love doing art, maybe you'd rather do a more production end part of the job where you're coordinating those video shoots or helping on set. Then you aren't involved in the persuasion part, just the execution.

You also might like user experience design, where you work for a company and improve their product (usually an app or website) based on user feedback and company goals.
