Dont let this "Honor Rules" ruin the game

I gotta chime in here because I really don't think you're making a fair comparison. The reason the tournament rulesets exist for Smash is because that game was designed as a party game with heaps of randomness. Competitive play requires an even playing field. If you win, it should be on your own merits, not because you got lucky with a bob-omb spawning right next to you or because a random stage hazard happens to KO your opponent. Once those random elements are removed, anything you can do in the game is perfectly legal to do in most Smash rulesets.

"Honor rules" or whatever in For Honor have nothing to do with making a fight even by removing random elements. Most of what you're seeing people get salty about are purposely placed game mechanics like throwing people off ledges or 2v1s which have counters (GBC, positioning, outside-blocking system). Instead of people learning the counterplay, they're whining about "honor."

If you want a Smash example, this is actually more like the controversy with "Wobbling." If you don't know, "wobbling" is a technique that can be used by the Ice Climbers character to keep a character in a grab indefinitely. Basically, if Ice Climbers grab you, you're dead, period. There was a period of time when the technique was banned because it was thought of as "cheap." There is counter play, though, and it mostly comes down to matchup knowledge. If you're playing against Ice Climbers, you know they have that tool, so you know you have to stay out of their grab range or only enter it when its safe to do so. The character also has a lot of flaws that can be easily exploited by skilled players. Likewise, as an Ice Climbers player you need to know that your opponent is expecting the wobble, so you can't rely on it too heavily. You need to know what you have in your toolkit to mitigate your flaws.

You won't see any tournament banning wobbling these days, because doing so is simply showing an anti-competitive mindset.

TL;DR: Tournament rules exist in Smash to mitigate randomness built-in to the game and provide an even playing field. You don't have to like those rules, but then you aren't playing competitive Smash. For Honor does not have randomness to be mitigated and you should all git gud.
