Don't Let Social Justice Take Over

Well I certainly see that their "CLEAR REQUESTS" won't work and if they are firm on those demands it will be a fruitless exercise for them. I don't have an objection or a feeling of favor to this matter as I really haven't experienced first hand any racism on campus over my time here (quite awhile with two degrees so far).

But to their asks, they can't change the requirements of current students, that is the whole point of why your degree is based on a catalog volume edition. If you complete the requirements printed in there you will get your degree, for future degrees sure things can change. So rest assured that those of you who are already a student will not have anything imposed upon you that you don't want. It would only be voluntarily.

I am not a person who is in denial or doesn't believe that the incident that is referenced occurred. I strongly feel that this has been overblown almost to the point where this one story is defining this school, as I personally don't take into account someone's ethnic or religious background when interacting, I don't know if I am just oblivious or what, I do know I am not in denial, I would like to be informed of these "things" that are creating the climate that I cannot see for myself. If I don't know where this plague exists on or off campus I cannot actively do anything to make sure it is shut down. Please respond to this request. There are things that we can do to put places out of business if they are condoning something that I haven't seen.

I also don't know what it is like to live as an ethnic minority and how it feels to be judged by some on the basis of your race or religion or lack thereof. So I will defer to those who feel they are being discriminated against to inform us who are deeply convicted to accepting anyone regardless of who they are.

I don't know how I have missed this so called atmosphere of white supremacy in my time at A&M. I will admit about five years ago I remember at one apartment I lived at, some moron had a confederate flag draped over his balcony. However there will always be a few nuts among a group of almost 50,000 undergraduates. I also knew that this would be someone I wouldn't want to talk to anyway if they were so tone deaf.

So, please anyone who knows of specific problems that exist please post descriptions of the problem and where they come from (anonymously if you prefer). I am sure that there are more of us that feel the way I do than the other way around. With this being a college student dependent town we can act upon problem areas specifically. I am sure I am not the only one who wants to get to the root of this issue and put an end to it.
