I have a rare autoimmune neuromuscular disease called CIDP. The odds of getting CIDP is one in 100,000. It’s similar to MS and ALS. It’s the chronic version of GBS. I have a very severe case of it and I lost the use of my hands but I’m still able to paint with my mouth. My left hand is completely paralyzed and I have enough strength in my right hand to use a computer mouse. I use Dragon dictate to type. It also affects my legs and feet and I wear braces on both legs to walk. I was in a power chair for four years before I did a stem cell transplant three years ago.
