Don't be a Sucker (1947)- US made a video to protect and educate people against "divide and conquer" propaganda tactics used by the media.

Always take everything with a grain of salt in this case that goes for her opinion on the matter as well. I heard that interview live while I was at work and I remember it because it was shocking. Her rebuttal is admirable yet it is also revelatory. By her own admission her father was not sober therefore how engaging could have been is questionable.

I know you were looking for a clear cut example but unfortunately this one is anything but. This can of worms goes way beyond editorial ethics, behavior science, addiction medicine, childhood brain development.

From a news perspective though NPR did what they were supposed to do. First of all the interview was exemplary and Lopate did not latch onto this extremely latchable subject in a way that would have derailed it immediately. The commentary in subsequent reviews of the book and the interview were not exactly out of bounds by any rational current understanding of the impacts of drug use on families and children. In other words I don't see how NPR is the asshole for pointing out uncontravercial truths.
