Don't Tell Me This Is Only Temporary When You Plan On Wearing A Mask For The Rest Of Your Life

We are very worried about my 7 year old son. He’s a very sweet and very shy kid who was just coming out of his shell and starting to enjoy school and social activities before covid hit. Now he cries every day when getting dropped off at school and is visibly anxious most of the time when he’s around anyone besides me and my wife.

This is mostly due to the requirement to wear a mask at school and not being able to read other kids and his teachers face like a human being. I tell him daily that it’s a silly rule but one that he has to follow when he’s there- and only when he’s there. I also tell him that the entire world is overreacting to something that’s not all that scary. But he hears things at school to the contrary and I can see that it’s crushing his soul.

Fuck this bullshit. The cure is so clearly worse than the disease (and it’s clearly not a cure anyway) and it’s fucking creepy how many people just love the cure. People are so caught up with their moral superiority of protecting elderly (who all either are vaccinated or don’t care to be by now here in the us) that they are willing to let my sons confidence and childhood be collateral damage. Fuck them all.
