Why don't VOD services use watermarks to defeat piracy?

start giving away free iPhones don't you think that it would affect iPhone sales?

And if it was illegal taking them and you could tell right away if someone did. This is taking one iPhone and then copying it millions of times in seconds, you can even have back the original. Digital copies are not the same as physical, in digital you can make seven billion copies and not even spend a dime and that goes for the original content creators too, they can make infinite amount of copies, so why not lower the prices even more? I am not paying for a disc or shipping, yet I still have to pay almost the same amount as for the physical copy? I have to pay for a movie that is maybe two hours long and I don't even get a copy, physical or digital, it's all stored somewhere on servers far away. This is another reason why piracy exists, all content is locked down, games, movies, music, you can't copy disc that you payed for and that is your property, you can't download a movie that belongs to you, you paid for it. Endless piracy warnings, giving away your credit card information to a home page that someone will hack in two months and leak all your data, there is no way to get a lot of this content conveniently. You probably couldn't watch anything these days without internet, you can't copy any information from what belongs to you. So what other choice is there? Then there is the delayed distribution, sometimes even as late as six months after movies release, then there are countries with almost no cinemas, people with no money, people who wouldn't pay, people who don't have access or even means to buy legit copies.

that gives them better than best IMAX theatre at home

Evolution, I wouldn't go to cinema if I could, phone screens, children, people walking if front of screen, loudly talking, phone calls, loud eating, driving to it, driving back, overpriced food. First time I saw Interstellar I sat next to a guy tho had cold, he was sneezing and coughing all the way trough the movie, this is why people don't want to go to cinemas anymore, experience is often terrible and in today's society you are wasting so much damn time. Piracy is so convenient I can't even begin to describe, download any movie, no "Piracy is bad" warnings, I have a copy that I can copy to my phone or flash drive for TV, no going trough menus, no Ads, no watching trailers or watching older movies on Netflix. Boom, I have movie, click and play, no bullsh*t.

Have you heard about that comedy show Louie CK did and then sold on his website for 5 bucks? He didn't have to give any money to publishers or anyone else, he got 100% of the profits, he said that piracy will always be present but as long as people make enough money legitimately it doesn't matter. Studious will be a relic that refuse to die, they are now, with 3D and IMAX experiences and cinematic rides, making same movies all over again, forcing directors to change movies, tax frauds, recut movies that look like garbage and have box sets and all the other crap. They don't listen to consumers, they are paying the price for that. Shame about indie studios, but indie will never die, you can make a good movie on practically nothing as proven by many famous directors that came from indie and made first movies, that were damn good, on couple of grand.

Point here is that you shouldn't look at this and force everything to stay as it was, you should look at it and think about how you can use it. How studios could use this? Make movies for online distribution only, TV shows for online only, give people with talent creative freedom, limit the budget if they have doubts. Stop forcing 3D, stop supporting terrible directors, stop with the watermarks, pushing digital projection, heavy CGI, terrible scripts, arrest regular people and try to put them in jail for downloading a movie. Pirate themselves and then refuse to pay - http://torrentfreak.com/rights-group-fined-for-not-paying-artist-for-anti-piracy-ad-120717/ Supporting anti piracy groups that steal money and force these stupid laws. This is as much they're fault as it is pirates.
