DOOM should not lose its horror roots

Eternal is literally the most complex DOOM game there is, it's not dumbed down in the slightest. One of the most common complaints about the game is that they dropped the simplicity and went in hard having the player constantly manage half a billion different resources while getting destroyed from every direction. If anything, the game overloads you with all of the things it has.

I personally prefer this over 2016's honestly kinda brain-dead gauss/SSG everything with no regard for your ammo approach (still an excellent game though and it only feels like this because I view Eternal as an upgrade in every way) and also think that the emphasis on resource management hearkens back to classic DOOM moreso than its predecessor too (albeit very differently and in a fairly abstract manner, but it still scratches the resource management itch that the classics did for me). The developers explicitly stated that they wanted it to be about resource managing again, so it was a very deliberate choice.

Sorry if the format is a bit messy, it's 3:30 am and I have so many thoughts about Eternal that it's kind of hard to put into words without writing a thesis on it.
