I said this earlier in the night, and I’ll support optic regardless because I have such a soft spot for how they entered the scene, but I’m truly concerned about how it looks if they just buy up an established stack, be it TI-winners OG, liquid or ex vgj+uni.

I want optic to win, but the fear I have is if they just take an established roster, no one will give them any credit, if anything they might get flamed for it.

No one cares if you buy up an established team and get results with it. Best case scenario they do well and ‘that stack’ does well, not the org that just shelled out a bunch of money for them to play under the brand, regardless of how the org supports them. The org doesn’t get any of the credit. Worst case scenario they underperform, get flamed AND optic looks dumb for buying an established roster that ‘sucks’.

Compare this to a ‘home grown roster’. If you had ppd zai and 2 vgjs and universe, you get to spin this team as a roster build and upgrade. Not entirely optic, not entirely vgj. They get to ‘earn’ their results whether they’re bad or good, and frankly that roster looks hella strong.

I’m personally ambivalent about the team being European or NA, but to me the important thing is optic is seen as creating their success, not just buying up talent and paying for success.
