Except this ban won't save a life. I can guarantee it. The next time there is a mass shooting occurs, or any shooting, people will cry out "But I thought we banned the murder guns?"without realizing that every gun is a murder gun and banning something doesn't actually stop it from being a thing considering criminals were ignoring the laws from the start.

The pro-ban community seems by and large to he under the impression that people are regularly in danger of being hurt by these firearms. Why would you spend thousand of dollars and expose yourself to government scrutiny if you wanted to use the firearm to yurt someone? Why wouldn't you just get an illegal firearm that this ban in no way inhibits? It can even be a scary inefficient automatic weapon.

Your "It's worth it even if it saves one life" is the same justification as the war on terror, the war on drugs, etc. which all increasingly strip away our freedoms in the name of public safety.

Except they don't save lives. The war on drugs is pretty widely seen as a failure, the war on terror has killed hundreds of thousands of people, and banning firearms does not stop the people who actually want to use them to hurt people.

This ban strips freedoms for safety, but doesn't keep people safe. The government is taking our firearms based on a lie.
