Anecdotal, but I did something similar. We had a small farm, a 40 minute commute and a ton of financial overhead living in a rural area and commuting to town. I bought a home in town and now kick myself on a daily basis because I hate having neighbors within feet of me, hearing sirens all hours of the day and night and having to give up having horses. I did better my financial situation, but I'm also suffering from a lower quality of life, IMO.

Had I to do it over, I'd have made some better financial decisions and stayed put. It all really boils down to what your goals are, and if it's merely to save money, reconsider some of your choices now before just chucking it all and changing your entire lifestyle.
