The same thing happened to me, except she actually was pregnant, and had the baby. I feel your pain. It’s terrible knowing that no matter what the wife does, people will automatically take her side, especially if she’s the mother of his children (or about to be, or trying to be).

Yes, there are some women out there who are extremely abusive, same as men, and the relationship continues because of manipulation, guilt, fear, etc. I’m really sorry to hear you’re going through this. Your post, and all of your upset and frustration, and the way people automatically demonized you for having an emotional reaction to the wife’s abuse, reminded me of my own past and brought tears to my eyes. ~b
