What’s In the Needle:

So, I’ll lump the part about modified viruses, modified bacteria, and live viruses altogether because they are the same thing. When he says they contain “modified” viruses and bacteria he’s implying that they are somehow genetically modified. First, very few vaccine actually contain whole-cells/viruses. They usually contain antigens specific to the infection or toxoids. When a vaccine contains a live virus, it’s attenuated, which means it has been weakened to the point of being non-infectious. So yes, they are live, but to not include that they are attenuated is intellectually dishonest. Examples of Live Attenuated Virus vaccines are the MMR vaccine and the flu vaccine.

Although we haven’t come to a conclusive definition of a virus, we most certainly do know that they cause infection. We also know that we can find surface antigens common to specific group of viruses that we can use to create a vaccine. Yes, some viruses are beneficial, just like many bacteria are beneficial. Many viruses; however, are not beneficial. Is “Dr” Glidden actually trying to imply that the measles, ebola, or flu virus is beneficial? We have done what is effective. We’ve created a polio vaccine that has effectively eradicated endemic polio in all but six nations in the world. We’ve created a small-pox vaccine which eradicated small pox. And we created a measles vaccine, which until recently was the causative factor for effectively eradicating measles in the US. Because of the dedicated hard work of individuals like “Dr” Glidden and other vaccine deniers, we now have a measles outbreak in the US. And yes, it is an outbreak. The definition of an outbreak is infection by an organism outside the expected number. Since measles was effectively eradicated in the US, we would expect there to be zero cases of measles. Even one case of measles would have been considered an outbreak.

Additives are added during the vaccine manufacturing process for a few reasons. Some, such as formaldehyde, are used to attenuate viruses for live virus vaccines. The formaldehyde found in the vaccines is removed and only trace amounts exists. Interestingly, formaldehyde is produced in your body every day, it’s a by-produced of many biological processes. Another additive is aluminum, which helps support and elicit a strong immune response. Aluminum is the most abundant element on earth and you ingest more aluminum in one day than you will ever get in vaccines. Finally, thimerosal – it’s not a big surprise this one was mentioned. A few things about thimerosal that most people don’t know. First, it’s used as an anti-fungal preservative in multidose vaccine vials. Second, it was removed from all childhood vaccines in 2001. The only vaccines that still use it are some flu vaccines that are found in multidose vials. This means that the MMR, DTaP, IPV, HiB, pneumococcal and other childhood vaccines no longer contain thimerosal. “Dr” Glidden’s argument has again been easily destroyed. Finally, thimerosal contains a form of mercury known as ethyl mercury, which does not bioaccumulate in the body in the way the methyl mercury does. Methyl mercury is the form of mercury found in higher order fish. He uses words like “biochemical,” and “cancer” without having a clue what they mean. Big surprise at the end of this video, he started to hawk books and websites. This is the actual job of a naturopath – hock pseudoscience for their own profit. He wants users to pay $25 per month (that’s $300 per year) to subscribe to his website. Really? And “big pharma” are the profiteers…right….
