I am Mexican and a Mexican old man was beat up (almost to death) by a bunch of white dudes yesterday. They were screaming: “go back to your country” and other hateful shit. He was there as a tourist with a visa.

This really strikes a chord with me. It’s the worst news I read since the whole issue with separating kids from their parents and putting them in a cage. I myself have experienced racism there as a tourist even though I’m a wealthy individual that lives in Mexico and have no desire to live in the US.

I give you this premise because I think that the only path to change is by talking to people like the OP and trying to understand his “tribalism”. I also understand the hostility towards him, I just HOPE that there’s more people like him waking up.
