You're not wrong, I just hate the fact that a guy is not allowed to get the surgery that is safe and has a higher probability of success long term
It's probability of success for a normal person or athlete is higher long term. Normal people and athletes don't receive the hits that NHL players do, and the NHL isn't the only sport that this surgery doctors have refused to try it on.
Eichel is (in not so dramatic of words) gambling his quality of life for this surgery. In a more extreme hypothetical, should a player get any surgery, no matter how safe/proven it is and still be entitled to the money on their contract?
It makes absolutely no sense that the organization is refusing this surgery out of self-interest, when the unknown risk of the surgery is potential severe injury, paralysis, or even death.
