There's a japanese Youkai called Te-no-me (Hand's Eye or Eye in Hand), which apparently is the spirit of a blind man that can't sleep in peace. He has empty eye-sockets and eyes on his hands, sometimes on the palm and sometimes in the fingers. Medamaude may be a reference to japanese folklore like Yuki-onna..

Also Medama means Eyeball. Ude means arm (?)
