Driver gives scammer what they wanted

Reading all this makes me glad I live in one of the many states where duty to retreat doesn't apply in a home or vehicle. Luckily I also live in a state where vandalism is only vandalism when a car is unoccupied and the courts do not hold citizens responsible for investigating a criminal's motive before acting in self-defense, so its a non-issue. I feel fortunate that I don't have to decipher if someone unexpectedly launching themselves at me through my window is an attacker or an insurance scammer, that's up to the police. It's a fun thought experiment though, minus the reductio ad absurdum about "people caring about windshields" that deflected from the weak points of the argument.
