DS9 (1993-1999) and Voyager (1995-2001) need HD rereleases

The "What We Left Behind" documentary makes it clear that at least in the case of DS9, seasons 3-7 were all recorded on film and and those raw cuts are being meticulously stored by CBS on the East Coast. Additionally, the CGI ships and their movements have been retained, with the ships having texture patterns much higher than what we saw.

It would still be a massive project to get everything scene for scene remade in HD, since it all has to be edited from raw footage again, and the battle scenes have to be rendered again. But it's not impossible. All of the footage in the documentary was remade in HD. The battle scene from Sacrifice of Angels was redone from scratch in HD as a proof of concept.

The information is there. Whether CBS is willing to put in the work and then sell it at a loss is another story. At this point it would certainly be a goodwill type release. Not likely for a series that many didn't want to happen in the first place because the lead character was described by the execs as being too "urban." That thought process permeates with the Trek decision makers today ... we got a Picard followup series instead of a conclusion to the Benjamin Sisko story. DS9 is the step-child of Trek lore. What we have now is all we are ever going to get.
