Duane Ludwig responds to Urijah Faber

At the time of the interview with Duane, he was aware that Faber made some statements on the show, but had not yet listened to the episode. He’s seemingly frustrated with the entire ordeal that has become of the relationship between Urijah and he’s ready to squash the whole thing and move on.

Urijah brings up some very controversial moments that occurred while Duane was coaching at Team Alpha Male. One instance suggested that Duane was making racial jokes towards African-American fighters on the team, causing them to become uncomfortable. Duane quickly replied, “Not true. Not at all. I’ll tell you what, that’s the first I’ve heard of it, that’s for sure.”

Duane feels that Urijah is trying to take out his frustrations on him, suggesting that perhaps Conor McGregor is getting the best of him on this season of The Ultimate Fighter.

Regarding the comments made by Urijah about Duane not supporting women’s MMA: “It’s not that I don’t believe in women’s MMA, I personally have a problem with a woman getting punched in the face.” He supports the fact that women want to compete and believes that Urijah knows where he really stands on wmma. “I’m not trying to have Ronda come beat me up.”

On the MMA Hour, Faber mentioned that Duane questioned him multiple times surrounding a discretionary bonus that he felt he was owed, a bonus that Urijah was never paid. He mentioned that the discretionary bonuses were offered to him by Urijah without ever asking initially, and he simply asked Urijah about it when he didn’t receive a payment.

Fortunately, the entire ordeal between the two was kept separate from the other fighters at Team Alpha Male to not cause a rift between the whole gym and distract their careers and training. Duane is still open to working with any of the fighters at Team Alpha Male and fully supports all of the fighters there. According to Duane, everyone is on speaking terms and there are no other issues between anyone else.
