Fun story... my girlfriend is all for gender equality and such, and one day when it came up, I told her how much I agree, but that there's more to it than just giving women all the benefits men enjoy. She asked what I meant, and I told her that, as an example, women should be forced to register for the selective service just like men. "What's that?" she asked. I was dumbfounded that a 30yo strong, intelligent female professional in grad school did not know. I told her what it was, and her eyes widened. "I don't want that." I looked her in those wide eyes and said, "Nobody does. But you do want real equality, right? You have to take the bad with the good." She nodded and was very, very quiet.
