We lived on a lake in rural Massachusetts for 5 years. Rule #1 on the lake; everyone is drunk. Summer, winter, it didn't matter.

In summer they crash their boats into each. In winter they dump their trucks through the ice.

We finally moved after witnessing 2 jet skis in a head-on collision. Thankfully no permanent injuries but seeing that was horrifying.

The lake was lawless. Dealers loved it because the police didn't have jurisdiction and the environmental police came around once a year. Idiots loved it because they could drive drunk with no consequences (most of the time). There was a small island in the middle so the kids loved it too because they would go out there and sit in the broken glass and get drunk.

Jesus it was fucking paradise and all people could do was drink and act like morons.
