The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have announced a global prize to tackle climate issues, pledging "a decade of action to repair the Earth". Five winners will receive the Earthshot Prize every year between 2021 and 2030. The announcement was made by Sir David Attenborough.

I get the sentiment, but with many of these problems even 100% civilian compliance won’t make a dent because companies consume the vast bulk of resource and produce the bulk of pollution.

I live in a state where 80% of water is corporate controlled and we’ve had drought conditions for a decade. Every summer I am told to take shorter showers and not wash my car - but even if, by some miracle, everyone in the state complied, this would not ease drought conditions considerably because corporate farm owners have successfully lobbied for virtually unrestricted water use.
