Dumbledore is given the complete Harry Potter series on Harry's first day at Hogwarts. What is he able to achieve with his newly gained knowledge?

My problem with that is that there exist multiple ways for him to return to power, and we're not entirely certain what kind of lifespan he would have in his withered form (if he's not outright immortal, as was his intent).

If he doesn't have to worry about aging or dying of old age, there's no reason he can't eventually return to power, even if it means waiting a very long time. Give him a couple generations, wait for the old guard who fought in the first war to die out, and eventually someone is going to come along who hears the stories about a nasty spirit wandering around the Albanian forests. If nothing else, eventually Dumbledore is going to die of old age, and the old man played things so close to the vest that it's an open question of whether anyone else would even be able to retrace Riddle's steps to figure out the existence of the Horcruxes, much less know the man well enough to make a guess at where they would be and what form they would take.

One could make an argument that Voldemort was, in the end, foiled by impatience. He spent all that effort learning to be immortal without actually learning to think like one.
