Dust collection filter for sanding drywall

My attempt at making a dust collector for sanding drywall. Ive seen some similar ideas online, figured id give it a shot.

Picked up a bucket, lid, and some pvc parts from hd. Bought the sanding kit of amazon for around $20. Cut 2 holes in the lid, one pipe hooked to the vacuum with a 90, the other longer pipe is straight and cut about 6 in from the bottom of the bucket.

First attempt, I filled the bucket half way with some soapy water, creating a type of bong water filter. This did not work. Lol. It was sucking the water out and had water and bubbles coming out of my vacuum. What a mess.

Second attempt I put a small amount of water filling only the bottom and cut the pipe just a few inches shorter so it was not in the water, but when the dust entered the bucket, the water would catch it.

Worked better, and only had a small amount of dust in my vacuum. Made a huge difference sanding and my house wasn't filled with dust.
