Do we think Dwight Howard really was the best choice for the Hawks or just an easy way to sell tickets?

Not only is a great rebounder/rim defender but (as you were saying) if he can get back to 75% of what he did in Orlando he can still be a major offensive presence in the post. A lot of the Magics offense was placing Dwight in the deep post position and surrounding him with good 3pt shooters. (I.e Jameer Nelson, Rashard Lewis, J.J Redick) And as for our beloved Hawks we have good 3pt shooters. (Kyle "Threezus" Kover) Personally I can see this offseason going one of two ways.

1) Dwight begins to show signs of the Magic star he once was. Creating havoc on the low block while creating a ton of space for cutters or open looks beyond the arc. Not to forget all the 2nd chance opportunities he creates at the offensive end as well.

2) Dwight plays near the same level as the last 2-3 years still improving the Hawks rebounding numbers and being a nice rim protecter in the paint. (he still averaged 13.7 Pts/11.8 Reb/1.6 Blks)

All and all I completely agree with you. Love the Howard signing and I love the tools he brings to the table for this current Hawks roster. Also love the mind-set he's in right now. I think people are gonna be surprised seeing how well he'll fit into Coach Bud's system. It's agreat time to be a Hawks fan
