DWP dismisses new call for full review of PIP application process including health provider assessments - Daily Record

The way these are done and some other assessments is ridiculous.

People go through a few weeks course to become assessors, but all they do is file a report and send it off. They don’t actually make a decision.

This becomes vastly difficult with more cases around mental health or ailments that aren’t physically easy to spot.

But also this comes from experience & the right questions being asked, knowledge.. etc. if the assessor isn’t very good then that can kill the decision right there.

Sometimes I’ve heard of people who are registered disabled from birth having to go to assessments almost to ‘prove’ this too or lose their money. Utterly shambolic.
