Easement on Property Shared with Neighbor Not Getting Solved - Walk Away?

they stated it wasn't a big deal and would still take several weeks to complete and we should proceed

If its really not a big deal then they should just get it done. I find when people say stuff like this there's something they are hiding.

An anecdote:

My buddy bought a house recently from OpenDoor, and he noticed during inspection that the hot water to the MIL suite was turned off. OpenDoor told him just to turn it back on and all would be fine. He refused and said "turn it on your damn self and we'll verify it works before closing." Then they offered $250 for him to turn it on - he refused again.

Of course, the seller had turned it off for a reason - there was a leak which was revealed when they turned it on. He was very, very glad he didn't take the $250 "just to turn a faucet."
