i'm not at all familiar with porn addiction, but i have flirted with being an alcoholic for years. i don't believe i ever have been, but that's up for debate. i do know i've gotten damn close quite a few times, but i've always been in control of it. I have gotten to the point where i think "ya know, i drink an aweful lot, i'd better slow down", and have never had a problem past that point. rarely hung over, doesn't affect my work life, or friends, and i've never had any side effects. that being said, i feel i know a thing or two about the alcohol demon. It did sneak up on me after the accident, and did get rather deep in before getting out. the news from my doc of being a diabetic helped assist me in that decision. i still drink, and somewhat often, but more diabetic friendly drinks, and i control myself a lot faster than i used to.

what bothers me is watching my wife cough from smoking. she broke, and subsequently had 9 vertebrae fused together from the accident, and i know coughing hurts her pretty badly. smoking is only exacerbating it. i can feel it, and i only broke 1 vertebrae, i can only imagine how she feels. she did comment that she is much better in the few days she's been quit, and that alone was enough motivation to stay quit.

as far as the book, i don't really know the best way to go about it, but having a so-called public library for just that book, where others here can get a copy is something i'd think would work well. i mean, maybe someone (you maybe) holds the books, and people pay to have it shipped to them? there's a ton of ways to go about it. hell, if everyone here donated a copy to their local library, we could all have access everywhere.

i think you've done a great service here by offering the books to people, so i'd like to at the least assist with making it work for the long term somehow. i only have ideas for now, but maybe with a larger group discussion, this can be figured out.
