Economic lockdown is a pro 1% move

I live in Maine. They closed the beaches here. All it did, was force the 500 people who walked the 100 yard wide 1 mile long beach, to walk on the sidewalk.

I honestly think this things comes down more to "faith in humanity" rather then right wing-left wing sort of thing. Honestly, I have no faith in my fellow man, and by result I honestly couldn't care less whats happening in the world. No amount of shelter orders is going to keep people in their homes. Sure, middle and upper class America is doing a great job. But lower income America? They're acting as if NOTHING is happening. None of them are sheltering in place, if anything, low income housing blocks have become a hotbed for drug activity through this entire thing. You just had 1,200$ dished out to every crackhead in America. Every Walmart employee is making another 600$ a week. Thats A LOT of money for people that had virtually none.

So what happens? They spend it. They don't care where. Best Buy for the 50" TV was just a stopping point before the drugs in the past. They were AT best buy last year to get the drugs, and happened to get a TV. Now, its ALLLLL going towards drugs.

9-1-1 frequent flyers are down. The typical low income hospital visitors for a night of morphine shockingly has gone WAY down. All response calls in general have nose dived off a cliff since this started. Want to know the one thing thats gone up? Drug overdoses. You have people beforehand that had to stop using to sober out for working hours. Now, they're all given A LOT of money, and told to stay at home.

These are the same people you stand in line with at the supermarket. And you have any faith in them to protect themselves, let alone others? After a while, it becomes wasted energy to fight this battle. No amount of celebrities on Instagram will help keep people at home. Government has failed A LOT of people, and propped up a bunch that didn't need it. It seems like the people who got their stimulus checks and unemployment, are the ones who didn't need it. Everyone I know that requires that money to survive, hasn't seen a dime yet.

Eventually, going to the vape shop becomes essential. Because my friend owns the vape shop, and he's almost out of business. My 20$ purchase keeps me happy, but it keeps his family fed.

I risk my health everyday for my country. By my own choice. I choose to do an occupation where people want to shoot at me sometimes. Do I yell at the guy with the gun? Yeah obviously. But it's MY choice to be on the receiving end of it all. I could very easily just get a desk job, right? So, why is it wrong of me to say that if you're at risk, it's your choice to stay home or go out? I don't want anyone taking care of me. I want me taking care of me, and thats how it should be. Government is just there to keep the ball rolling, not to play nanny. We're adults, take care of yourself.
