Economic Questions from a Serbian for r/Albania

First, I think it's awesome that you're a Serb and you're engaging in a civil discussion with Albanians. We need more of this.

Anyway, the Balkans has an issue of division and Albanians are really the only exception. They want nothing short of unity and are being labeled terrorists for it. We have Catholics, Orthodox and Muslims and we do not divide ourselves because of it. Serbs (plus Montenegrins), Bosniaks and Croats need the same unity, as do Macedonians and Bulgarians as well as Romanians and Moldovans. There are like 12 countries when there are only 5 peoples (linguistically). This is, in my opinion, the first thing.

That being said, Serbia must own up to its war crimes. Forgiveness is not impossible. They need to recognize Kosovo as independent, trade the Serb-majority North Kosovo for the Albanian-majority Presheva Valley, and allow Kosovo to join with Albania. And it should seek to join again first with Montenegro and eventually with Bosnia and Croatia. And in the same way, Moldova needs to join with Romania and Macedonia with Bulgaria. Slovenia is fine on its own. (This all coming from an ethno-linguistic point of view.)

All of these countries need to free their markets and reduce government interference. We've all seen what these politicians are capable of, and for what? They led these countries into wars or economic disaster. Take their power away.

Once these countries are united and have free societies, we need to trade with each other. Compete with each other. Invest in each other. We don't need the EU. It's a very controlling and undemocratic institution that undermines its member states' sovereignty.

So yes, we're small, but if the Balkan states trade with each other and boost each other up, they'll become more relevant to each other and then to Europe and then to the world. That's the way I see it anyway.
