Ed Miliband: don't mistake my decency for weakness

Damn you Biologists trying to come into economics and business :P I study them both (third year) and it kinda gets annoying after a while that everyone seems to think they know what they're talking about. Picture everyone constantly saying they know what's what about biology (I was awful at it tbh) and linking biased newspapers selling an agenda as if it were somehow a good source.

"Most of the stuff I argue in this sub isn't some dearly held opinion to me it's just offering counter argument. I'm incredibly concerned that this subreddit is creating an atmosphere for young voters that the left wing is the correct wing without providing any substantiation. I've actually seen comments along the lines of "I'd probably ignore that radio presenter he has a history of being right wing" as a genuine criticism, as if the right wing is some shady dishonest cult of private schoolboys. I don't think this subreddit puts about a particularly positive argument as to why the left is better than the right, people are being put off from even reading into the right wing "Don't read the mail it's a piece of shit" etc. when realistically people should be reading and critically evaluating it as wrong instead of just being brainwashed into ignoring it."

There are arguments for right wing economics, the thing is most aren't tried because of the obvious terrible short term effect on those worst of. It kinda dips into a moral issue even if we like it or not (which alot of economists hate because it isn't purely just numbers) we should (from my point of view of course) always try to help people that need help... which is why I mentioned the human capital point of view earlier (It's kinda where you view everyone person as having a potential and the potential is lost if there isn't a safety net, J.K Rowlands would be a decent example).

The right has some fair arguments, the 'bedroom tax' is good in theory economically, however morally kinda fucked up. It does force people to move away from their friends and family not to mention networks of friends and there job. It's fair play to argue different viewpoints but if you don't understand the economic or business background to them it just gets annoying (not you specifically, as I said I am biased towards the left).

It is annoying as hell though having every redditor thinking they know what they're talking about to do with business and economics. Like I said picture every other thread about biology and people talking bollocks about how it works. I'm not saying the left are great, but surely the tax cut on the richest in a time of austerity must have spelled it out for them. It just annoying as hell.

The daily mail is not what I would call right wing economically (They make so sense with their economic arguments), it's just right wing socially.
