I have the same book also.
Odd... For one, OP states that this is a book of poems, but fails to note that it also contains Poe’s stories. In addition, when the book is turned to show the carved fore-edge, the book cover is suddenly white, the dimensions seem “off,” and the interior of the book isn’t formatted the way mine is.
I think this carving was done on a shitty book, maybe a secondhand Barnes & Noble print of Tess of the D’Urbervilles or some shit. After carving, OP saw the potential so got the “spookiest” book he from his shelf—which he will never dare to carve but will never read, either—and is pretending to have carved it.
