Editor quits amid outrage after call for ‘Appropriation Prize’ in writers’ magazine | Toronto Star

That's the very definition of engaging with the real meaning. Explaining why someone is wrong to think that is entirely the point of correcting false notions.

Yes ... I can do more than one thing in a conversation, it may surprise you to know. I can address a misunderstanding and a correct understanding in the same discussion. It's not at all hard.

Which group do you think the article is about?

I don't think it was a group, I think it was individuals. In fact, it was individuals. It says so right in the article.

What on earth are you playing victim for?

I'm not? You attacked me for not giving you something you never asked for. I pointed that out. That's it.

I pointed out the fact that you have been entirely focused on the idea of people wrongly criticizing some people of cultural appropriation.

Okay. I don't see that, but okay. That's your perception, I'm not responsible for how you choose to read my words.

Yes, I agree that happens on occasion, but it is far from being the only issue.

I never said it was the only issue? I implied that it was an issue, but I never once wrote that it was the only issue. If that's your perception, then that's on you. You decided that all on your own.

So you claim, but clearly you think there's something to disagree with that's been said somewhere.

I don't think that? I just put out my comment, then you came at me with all these accusations and presumptions. Maybe you need to back up and re-read our conversation from the very beginning. Pay close attention to what I write and how I word things. I generally try to choose my words carefully.
