Edmonton cyclist denied entry to bike shop ‘based on gender’

None of those search results mentions that men are specifically barred from a shop, during Women's/Trans Wrenching Night. The Edmonton shop is the only shop, between the ones we're discussing, that specifically makes a policy of banning people based upon gender.

None?

we've set aside Tuesday nights as an Open Shop just for women, gender-non-conforming, and trans* folks. If you self-identify as female, transgender, or genderqueer, you are welcome to come on Tuesdays to help create a positive, safer community space.

Bicycle Bitchen is a weekly woman-identified safe space at the Bicycle Kitchen. We encourage women of all skill levels to experiment and explore while learning bike mechanics and maintenance in a comfortable atmosphere. Come experience the satisfaction and joy of building, fixing or souping up your own bike with a group of women who love bicycling. Monday nights, from 6:30-9:30pm, we open up the space to make it more welcoming to woman-identified folk by staffing the shop with exclusively women-identified volunteers for women-identified persons only. We ask that men respect this by coming back during our other open hours.

At the Bike Kitchen we try our best to facilitate an inclusive and empowering environment that is friendly and safe for all community members. However, we recognize that sexism and gender discrimination are strong forces that effect women and trans people in their everyday lives and can also be present during general shop hours at the bike kitchen. We are proud to provide a space where women and transgender folks can celebrate and share their skills amongst each other.

Respect the space. If you are not female or transgender please come to the shop during other open hours. T, W, Th 6-9pm, Sat 12-3pm.

I could go on, but you get the idea.

You're welcome to your opinion about what's right and wrong, but it's not going to keep many bike co-ops from having women's only nights, at least until women are participating in cycling in near equal numbers.
