Either reddit just attracts a type of person, or everyone who cared to disagree left. But what happened to reddit?

Just relax and post what you want karma be damned. The point of talking isn't always too be heard. If you go here with the mentality that the only thing that matters is that people see your posts you will end up coming to the logical conclusion that the best thing to do is simply post what the average Redditor wants to hear. In that way Reddit is an echo chamber if you always go after karma, but the act of writing and putting your thoughts out there I think is its own exercise. Particularly while those thoughts are in an embryonic state where you're still trying to make sense of your own interpretations. It forces you to impose order upon the chaos, turning the fuzz that exists within your mind into an argument such that you must organize your ideas and face your assumptions. As well sometimes you'll be surprised, if you write clearly and with some amount of elegance I find that occasionally Redditors will swallow the bitter pill and open themselves up to a view point they may not personally agree with.

Now because of this I tend to write a lot, and I understand most of the time nobody really cares, but that's not really why I do it. While others I'm sure disagree I'm of the opinion that if you're sitting there pressing refresh after posting a two line comment you're doing it wrong. The real thing I try and encourage, and the reason I like this site at all, is conversation. While I often fail to in that regard, I think it's far more rewarding to see that someone took the time to reply to something I'd said than to see a variable increment because someone who already agreed with me read what they wanted to hear. Again though that's simply my opinion on the matter, different people seek different experiences. If you're finding the karma system difficult to play along with though, I would offer my way of posting and using Reddit as a possible alternative for you to consider.
