The 5th Court of Appeals has effectively reinstated the voting poll exemption in Greg Abbott's mask order, so you need not wear a mask to satisfy the Cult of Covid to vote in Texas...until the court speaks further.

On the bright side, the adherents of the Cult of Covid can still wear a mask badly, pulling it down to talk to friends, touching their faces, and demonstrate that it's really a facade, but then scream at non-masking pagans to demonstrate their cult righteousness.

When you go vote, be sure to touch the door on the way in and out with your bare hand, and then pretend that your mask will stop the virus while scowling at people who don't have the virus, and if they have the virus are not sneezing on you, and if they have the virus but are still wearing a mask, will still give you the virus because the mask isn't stopping the breath that has the virus in it.

Realize that this is just a stay of the district court judge's order while the 5th Court of Appeals actually examines the merits of the appeal. So this is not the end of the story.

AND FYI - if we wanted to take this level of care based on this level of danger, we'd ban bicycles and skateboards. "Two weeks to flatten the curve" was the mantra, and not "Flatten the people until they all die of something other than covid."

Note: In reading some of the comments, it appears that some folks think that this is our case, but it is not...our petition to the Texas Supreme Court was denied without comment. Maybe they knew that this opinion was coming and they didn't need to get involved. No one knows. But this case is the fine work of our AG Ken Paxton.
