El Salvador protest breaks out against Bitcoin adoption (first country to accept as legal tender)

Depends on the cryptocurrency. There’s what’s called the block chain dilemma where a currency can only be 2 of 3 things:

Secure, scalable, and decentralized.

Coins like XRP and XLM have no interest in decentralization. They actually want to be the world currency of banks, by making transactions easier, cheaper and faster than what it is currently.

Other projects want the complete opposite of that. Blockchain technology is being used for so many different purposes nowadays that you really can’t make sweeping generalizations like back in the day when it was just bitcoin. That’s why a lot of the anti-crypto arguments you still see are just anti-bitcoin comments that are ignorantly being used for crypto in general.

Like you’ll see the environment argument which is true for proof of work currencies like bitcoin but not at all true for proof of stake currency like cardano. You get the “it has no use outside of being a store of value” argument which again might be true for bitcoin but isn’t true for a bunch of others. Something chiliz allows you to support and get access to your favorite soccer teams and F1 drivers, and they’re currently making deals with leagues like the NBA.

If nothing else crypto imo is the only way to make good money without working yourself to death in a great paying job that you may or may not have. Everyone always says the game is rigged by the ultra wealthy against the poor and middle class, but then a bunch of these same people are anti-crypto. You can’t save for retirement with a savings account since you’ll only lose money to inflation. Same goes with bonds. Stocks are risky and you’re still only looking at like 6% gains in a good year. Crypto is one of the only ways an average person can reliably turn a few hundred into a few thousand or more as long as they’re not total morons about it. Do your research, don’t spend what you can’t afford to lose, invest in a diverse range of cryptos with good potential, stake them for extra gains, then hold until you reach your goals or desperately need the money.
