I wasn’t speaking of detaining anyone...generally when adult services get involved they do an in home regular schedule with visits to check on the person, arrange nurses/groceries/care/transport.
The law in any jurisdiction is very strict on obtaining legal care of an adult, as I said. So I get why it’s hard for APS to intervene, but intervention is usually not sticking them in care homes or mental health places.
But if she had a caseworker checking on her and hearing from the neighbors, that caseworker would be able to determine the woman’s cognizance, get her appropriate supervision (possibly in-home) and keep her up with health checks so that if she does become a danger to herself, it can be prevented.
Or...you know...stop her from throwing shit into her neighbors garden.
