This election isn’t about right-left — it’s about technology displacing workers

Yes racism, sexism, Climate Change, etc. are all the important issues we are actually voting on tomorrow to decide what kinda country we wanna live in!

But this article nailed down a question I had brewing in the back of my brain i.e. How will the policy choices we vote on actually reflect ongoing shifts in the future of employment...

Trump is asking to bring back jobs that may not exist anymore. And plans to gut the social welfare safety net and envrionmental polices in order to cut taxes on the rich.

Clinton wants the rich contribute more. And improve the social safety net including healthcare. And address the dire issue of Climate Change.

Trump is making broken promises to strip the wealth of this country before the shit hits the fan with unemployed teamsters and the like.

Clinton though hasn't exactly acknowledged the shitstorm that is brewing with automatic Trucks and driverless Ubers. We won't just need the 1% to pay their 'fair share', they may be the ones buying all our meals in the near future.

There is vital work required in cities for climate change preparedness, education for the skilled engineering and maintenance jobs of the future etc.

These are like the random deep and future policy questions that never got answered because the debates were about scandals instead of policy.
