ELI5: Why are people against facial recognition technology?

Without context it depends, systemic China-style recognition?

Facial recognition today would tantamount to a passive collection of an accurate and real-time set of data about your whereabouts.

With minimal margin of error, this could identify you accurately where ever you are.

What you do, Where you are, Who you associate with, Etc.

Correlate this with:

What you spend money on, What hobbies you have, What political activities you partake in, How long you spend doing X activity.

It looks pretty grim.

"Nothing to hide" is silly, how about "Leave me alone".

I don't want anyone tagging along with me 24/7, and I sure don't want an unknown entity keeping an eye on me at all times.
