ELI5: why does childhood trauma cause people to become apparently more susceptible to negative behaviours?

Growing up without parents and being shuffled around makes you smarten up quick. You gotta learn to be tough and not make life harder. You gotta learn how to cook and clean your own clothes to young cause no one else will.

I remember being a little kid trying to clean the house while my mom was passed out cause I knew my grandparents were coming over lol I was like six.

The biggest issue it created for me personally though is how I deal with closeness. If you’re close I love you and you can really do no wrong but if that gets betrayed it’s like that feeling as a kid again and fuck them. But you’re right, you learn to live in whatever world you were brought into, some have it easier than others. No biggy really but interesting to hear how diff people think from how they grew up.
